Experiments from a glass blowing workshop

2 out of 11 experimental vessels made during the course of a 10 day glass blowing workshop in Marinha Grande.
These experiments, rather than following a pre-defined concept are the result of my curiosity for how the material (glass) behaves in terms of weight, viscosity color and inflation on the hands of Arlindo Francisco (glassmith).

Experiment on “stretching” color within a glass piece and seeing how the pigment travels inside of the molten glass.

The final object is a conical vase that revolves around its tail when placed on a flat surface.

Starting as a cilinder, this piece was cut longitudinally while still maleable and reheated to allow for the glass to “fall” down to the sides under its own weight.
